With JWF's twenty year anniversary approaching it causes one to begin to take inventory. What will we leave behind; a trail blazed with perseverance and faithfulness, stories of the miraculous and the impossible, a testimony of integrity and consistency, what will our legacy be?
Legacies, whether you realize it or not, we're constantly writing them, some memorable, others forgettable. Our actions are like footprints either carved in stone or simply pressed in the sand. One has purpose and takes toil and time; the other is thoughtless and will quickly be blown away with the sands of time.
A legacy of permanence is what we desire. Jesus said, "Heaven and earth shall pass away but My Word shall endure forever!" Our collective aspiration at JWF is to continue a legacy of speaking the truth of God's Word in love that we might produce not only hearers but doers of His Great Word. A word that hundreds of thousands if not millions have fought and died for, whether the Apostle Paul or William Tyndale, they knew that you might attempt to imprison the messenger, you may decide to take his or her life, but the supernatural capacity of God's Word would endure forever.
When you review the History of JWF and Hill Top Equestrian Center, you might say our legacy began in Lewisburg with prayer and a school building. You may know enough about me as your pastor to say it began with a grandmother who prayed for her favorite grandson to come to know Jesus. You may even know enough about the land upon which our ministry sets to say it began with a German immigrant family by the name of Ware who decided to settle a homestead near water and in a field of stone; a half mile long monument stands to declare their perseverance and tenacity as they cleared the fields of large granite stones that time had left behind so that they might be able to plant and harvest the fruits of their labor. All of these statements are mere reminders, the pavers that were placed on top of the true beginning and foundation of JWF & HTEC's legacy. Before the foundations were laid, the Apostle John calls us all to remember, "In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. He was in the beginning with God. All things came into being through Him, and apart from Him nothing came into being that has come into being. In Him was life, and the life was the Light of men."
It was God's word by which all things were created, the word that is a continual lamp unto our feet and a light unto our path that gave birth to our Legacy. This legacy shall have enduring, eternal, everlasting consequences if we remain careful to guard it as a treasure, retain it as a standard, protect it as the only words of life by heeding the warning of Proverbs 23:10 Do not move the ancient boundary Or go into the fields of the fatherless." The Word of God and the souls it redeems unto life, these are our true legacies. We will continue to preach His infallible Word in season and out of season. We will reprove, rebuke, exhort, with great patience and instruction, enduring hardship, fulfilling our ministry, His Legacy!
